Kevin Bacon is to appear at the 13th annual Washington West film festival, located in Reston Town Center and Tysons. The film festival is scheduled for October 10th through the 13th.
The Washington West film festival will feature new documentaries such as Searching for Amani and Champions of the Golden Valley as well as a showcase of short films by GMU students. Classic movies like The Sixth Sense and Footloose will also be shown, along with several other films.
Bacon will perform at the Reston Town Center pavilion with his brother, Michael Bacon, in their band “The Bacon Brothers” at 7:00 pm on October 12th. Their band is described as a “mix of folk, rock, soul, and country music” according to their website.
Kevin’s charity Six Degrees will partner with the festival, with all proceeds going to the charity, which will be used to supply foster kids with essential products like toothbrushes and socks through the nonprofit organization Virgina Kid’s Belong.
On October 13th at 1:00 pm, Six Degrees will work with local volunteers (volunteer sign up here) to pack BK x KB (Building kits by Kevin Bacon) which includes items such as toys, books, and hygiene products, that will be donated to local families in need.
Afterward, Bacon will participate in a virtual Footloose Q&A celebrating the 40th anniversary of the movie following a screening at Look Cinema in the Reston Town Center.
Kevin Bacon’s involvement with the Washington West film festival through his charity Six Degrees will benefit the Virgina Kid’s Belong Organization as well as the children who receive his BK x KB kits packed at the event. Along with this, local residents can enjoy his musical performance and virtual Footloose Q&A at the Reston Town Center.
