Nicole Harris is the publisher and editor of Glassbuild America Magazine, a magazine that not only shows you fine glass but also directs you to where to retrieve it.
“I have been in this business since I got my Bachelors in english in 1985 when I started a trade organization and began editing,” Harris said.
Having gone to University Of Toronto and George Mason for journalism, Harris shows our journalist that it has definitely been a long time coming.
Being influenced by other people and having a passion for writing made Harris want to get in this business. She has never been a fan of editing though, making it clear that editing isn’t all fun and games.
“Know a good story when you see or hear one,” Harris said, “Don’t be afraid to ask questions, Get quotes and ask of opinions.” Letting us know that in order to be in the business , using your voice is very necessary.
Coming from an editor perspective, Deadlines are an ongoing struggle that people have to make.
“Deadlines are huge.”
Harris also said to be “Tech savvy and separate trash from truth.” not only in journalism but in life it will help you go far.
Harris was well informing, ending with the key to being successful in the job,
“Set your goals, and really want it. Work hard for all you want to achieve. Also, have energy.”
