Junior Sean McCrone has had red-green color blindness almost his whole life. This deficiency has affected his life only slightly, however, it cannot be corrected.
When did you first realize you were color blind?
When I was five years old, I was in the car with my mom and there was a rainbow outside. I pointed at the rainbow and said ‘Look mom, there’s a two-colored rainbow!’ She realized that wasn’t right and took me to an eye doctor. That was when I found out that I am red-green color blind.
Does it affect your driving?
When it’s really bright outside I can’t tell if the stoplight is green or not. When I look at a stoplight, the green is on top and the red is on the bottom.
How else does it affect you?
In science it’s really hard because we deal with the color spectrum. Also, on class color day of freshman year I put on a light brown jacket instead of a green one.
