As of December 10th, well-known R&B Soul & Jazz Artist, SZA, made seven Instagram posts with the caption being “LANA” on each and a photo of her posing with different settings, only three of them had the same setting. The unexpected posts made fans confused and were quick to jump to conclusions that she would drop a new album called LANA, assuming the six pictures had something to do with it. Out of the seven photos that were captioned “LANA”, three of them showed her wearing a blue and white jersey with the number 15. Fans noticed this and assumed that No.15 represented a hint that a new album would be released on December 15, 2023. 

As of recently, SZA’s most streamed album, SOS, reached the No.1 on Billboard for over ten weeks. Which is a huge achievement as only eight albums have been on the chart for ten weeks since 2010. SZA posted a photo of the album cover and wrote her appreciation about the massive love. Furthermore, regarding her album, in the caption after the first “LANA” photo was posted, following up with six more being posted after. In an interview with Variety back in August, she stated, “It’s out-takes [from SOS] and new stuff too, I added a couple of songs. It’s like a whole new project. It’s called, ‘Lana,’ my name, but it’s the first tattoo that I ever got when I was 13. [It was $10/per letter,] and I only had $40, so that became my nickname for no reason. ‘Lana’ is really just a B-side of SOS.” 

In another more recent interview between SZA and New York’s Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Event on September 8th, 2023; the singer stated: “So the deluxe is like a whole ‘nother album, and [it’s 7-10 songs,] and [it will] be out [by] this fall.” When fans had noticed these interviews from a few months ago, fans used them as a reference that LANA was a deluxe to SZA’s most successful album, to give back to fans for giving her an intense amount of support. Regarding the tracklist for her new album, there is no possible confirmation on what the deluxe will include. When SZA was asked by Variety if a song called ‘Joni’ was on the Deluxe, she said, “‘Joni’ is on it. Well, they leaked it, so I wasn’t gonna put it on there. I guess I should still…but they leaked it already. They ruined it. [Fans] already have it.” SZA had first teased the song for where it was confirmed to be on the deluxe album in an interview with Rolling Stone back in August, however, the full song had gotten leaked on June 24, 2023.

SZA had performed three unreleased songs at New York’s Brooklyn Navy Yard for her fans. The unreleased songs were ‘Boy From South Detroit,’ ‘Saturn’ and ‘Diamond Boy’ which made fans speculate that these three unreleased songs had something to do with the tracklist for the deluxe album, these are only rumors and are yet to be confirmed. Until Lana is released, fans are excited and awaited to hear what the deluxe album will have.
