Sophomore Allison Scheler and fashion marketing planned the We R Fashion show to raise funds for Best Buddies and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
Junior KellyJean Watkins, the event’s coordinator, and Scheler combined their efforts to create a larger fashion show that would bring in a more funds. Scheler created the fashion show as her IBMYP project.
The performance will occur at 7 p.m. on March 29 and is open to anyone who has purchased a ticket. Tickets prices are $3 before the event and $5 at the door.
Watkins became a part of planning the show because of her love for fashion.
“The clothes are being donated to us so it will be a real fashion show experience,” said Watkins.
Five rehearsals are scheduled.
“I’m hoping for a total of 40 models,” said Scheler. “It is open for any boys or girls that want to join. Teachers participating range from math teachers to PE teachers, some of which include Mr. Carter and Ms. Hetman.”
Scheler and Watkins garnered publicity for the fashion show by distributing flyers, informing teachers, and holding interest meetings.
Scheler’s friends and family support her by coordinating parts of the show to make sure everyone does what they are assigned and provide her with moral support.
“I think this is a challenging endeavor for Allison,” said sophomore JD Mullins. “I am proud of her for not letting anything get in her way to pursue her dream.”
