There are many new movies coming to the big screen this year! Here are some to look out for.
“A Minecraft Movie” will be released on April 4 and is directed by Jared Hess. It will star many famous actors, including Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Jennifer Coolidge, and Emma Myers. This film will follow four misfits that get pulled in a mysterious portal into the Overworld, which is a bizarre cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home the misfits have to go on a magical quest with a crafter named Steve. This is based on the popular video game Minecraft that was created back in 2011, where players go on an adventure while placing blocks down in an imaginary world. This video game is still very popular today, which is why many fans are excited to see how Hess will translate this game into a movie.
The next film, “Snow White”, which will be released on March 12, is a live adaptation of the 1937 Disney film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Both of these were based on the 1812 Brother Grims fairy tale book, “Snow White”. The live adaptation, directed by Marc Webb, will star Rachel Ziegler, Gal Gadot, and Andrew Burnap. The American musical fantasy’s screenplay was done by famous film creators Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. This will be the 7th live adaptation of a Disney princess film following previous princesses like Cinderella, Ariel, Mulan, and Belle.
Another film to look forward to is “Superman” which will be released on July 11. This film will follow Superman as he embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptoian heritage with his human upbringings as Clark Kent. This will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Many fans were surprised to see another adaptation of the DC comics that followed Superman by the Warner Bros production since they had already done Superman’s story with actor Henry Cavill. The director James Gunn stated that this new superman will restore the DC universe with correct timelines, hope, and sense of humanity for Superman’s character. This movie is supposed to represent a new dawn for the DC universe and accurately follow the comics.
“Jurassic World Rebirth”, directed by Gareth Edwards, will be in theaters on July 2. This movie will follow a woman and her family when they get stranded on an island that is home to dinosaurs. This will be the 8th movie that will add to the Jurassic Park film series that was created back in 1991. Actors including Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johanson will be starring in the film. Many fans are excited for another Jurassic Park film because the series has been loved for many decades.
The last movie that people should look forward to is “Captain America: Brand New World”. This film is directed by Julius Onah and stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Seth Rollins. This will follow Captain America as he finds himself in an international incident after meeting with President Thaddeous Ross. He must discover the reason for this incident before the whole world sees red. Being based on the Marvel comics this movie follows previous marvel films like “Endgame” and “Infinity War”. This movie is entering a new era of the Marvel Universe with a new Captain America. Will the new Captain America help start a new Marvel Era and will the fans be ready for it? This movie will be released on February 14.
