The American singer and songwriter, Chappell Roan, has become a star overnight. This past summer Roan has become a popular music artist, even though she has been in the industry for several years.
At the age of 17 Roan released multiple videos of her singing on the social media platform, Youtube, and was later found by Atlantic Records. After being recognized, she began touring with the famous pop star Olivia Rodrigo as an opening act for Rodrigo’s Sour Tour and now her Guts Tour.
This summer, Roans new single Good Luck Babe blew up the internet causing fans to listen to her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. This album was released in September of 2023. Since then, singles such as HOT TO GO!, Pink Pony Club, Casual, and Feminomenom have been playing non stop. Roan is currently touring internationally, on her Chappell Roan tour. The next spot on her tour will be in Manchester, United Kingdom.
During Roan’s childhood she went by her real name Kayleigh Amstutz as she grew up in a trailer park in Missouri. Her family found out she could sing at her middle school talent show and not long after she was recognized. Her stage name came from her grandfather, Daniel Chappell’s, favorite song “The Strawberry Roan.”
The pop star has used her fame to speak out against things like stalking.
“I don’t care that abuse and harassment — stalking, whatever — is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous, whatever,” Roan explains. “I don’t care that it’s normal. I don’t care that this crazy type of behavior comes along with the job, the career field I’ve chosen. That does not make it okay. That doesn’t make it normal. Doesn’t mean I want it. Doesn’t mean I like it.”
Many fans were happy to see her defend herself and share her true feelings about things that are considered “normal” for celebrities. Since being in the industry for seven years, Roan has grown into her fame.
Overall, Chappell Roan has made an immense rise this summer, with her hit songs and album. She worked her way up the music industry chain. She has transformed into a very popular singer-songwriter in a very short, impressive period of time. Fans are hoping to see much more from Roan after she wraps up her tour in October of 2024.
