Students have probably seen Mrs. Westfall walking through the halls but may not know much about her. She has been working as a counselor at South Lakes for 10 years now. Westfall’s favorite part of her job is “working with students to help them find their post secondary plan.” Her favorite thing about South Lakes is “the sense of community.”
Before she moved to Fairfax County, she grew up in a small town of Goshen, New York, and went to Goshen High School. She got her Bachelor’s Degree from Springfield College and her Master’s Degree at the University of Long Island.
Outside of school, she enjoys working out, watching Schitt’s Creek, which is her favorite TV show, and eating cannolis. The color she resonates with most is the color blue, representing her tranquility because “[she is] happiest by the water.” Her colleagues say her spirit animal is an elephant because she’s “a good listener.” Being a counselor, she said if she could have a superpower she would want the ability to mind-read.
She also loves traveling, and if she won the lottery hypothetically, the first thing Westfall would do is travel. Her favorite vacation location is the Grand Cayman Islands. Mrs. Westfall really likes to read, and her favorite book is Into Thin Air. She also immerses herself in listening to LL Cool J, who is her favorite musical artist. Although Mrs. Westfall cherishes her occupation at South Lakes, she has said that if she wasn’t a counselor, she’d love to be “an athletic trainer for the New York Giants.”
Mrs. Westfdall loves being a counselor here at South Lakes and she is much appreciated in the community.
