The show that was awarded the most Emmys for the night was The Bear, taking home 6 awards. The titles of the awards the show took home included Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Comedy, Best Writing for a Comedy Series and Best Directing for a Comedy Series.
Quinta Brunson winning Best Actress marks the first Black woman to win the award since Isabel Stanford back in 1981. She won the Best Actress category for her role as the main lead on the show Abbott Elementary, which she wrote. The star of the night was Elton John, since the Emmy he won for his Disney+ special meant that he finally achieved EGOT status. EGOT status means that someone has been awarded all of the four major entertainment awards, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Elton John is now the 19th person to achieve EGOT status.
