Rebooted Anime, Tokyo Mew Mew New ♡  has finally received its second season, and it premiered on April 4th, 2023. The anime is still only available in Japanese, and there are no other language dubs available. However, there are still subtitles available on other streaming services and it runs on the TV Tokyo Network. The TV Tokyo Network is available to those who are in the region in Japan. The show has received a new opening and ending theme created by Japanese Idol group, Smewthie, whom cosplay the characters. Throughout the first season, the Mew Mews fight against the Chimera Animas, and thus their skills have improved over time.

Chimera Animas are genetically mutated monsters who spread alien energy all over the earth, and only serve to harm the planet. The Mew Mews are dedicated to protecting and preserving wildlife by any means necessary. These girls are led by their team leader, Ichigo Momomiya, and they are infused with an endangered animal’s DNA. At the end of the first season, the girls have been on a quest to obtain Mew Aqua. It is a powerful crystallized substance that is said to have purifying abilities on the environment. In addition to this, Mew Aqua grants the Mews the power they need to fight against evil. Unfortunately, the Aliens attempt to keep the Mews away from Mew Aqua due to the miraculous advantage it grants them.

Throughout the progression of the first season, Ichigo no longer hangs out with her old friends like she used to. Because of the demands of Project Mew, Ichigo has developed a closer relationship with her teammates who assist her in battle. Take for instance, Minto Aizawa, she is pretentious, although she warms up to Ichigo over time. Alongside this, Ryou has opened up to Lettuce, and it is indicated that she may have a crush on him. Minto’s infatuation with Zakuro has not stopped, and so far, there has not been any revisions. Minto is very dedicated to Zakuro’s works and she looks up to her as an idol.

In the final episode of the first season, Ichigo and Masaya’s date is suddenly interrupted by a Chimera Anima attack. Ichigo runs off to dismiss herself and to assist her teammates in battle to combat the aliens. At the end of the fight, Minto acquires Mew Aqua. Aoyama does not know Ichigo is a superhero and she keeps this as a secret from him. She fears that Aoyama will avoid and reject her in spite of her wishes of wanting to protect him. In the pouring rain, Ichigo meets him and she confesses her affection toward Masaya despite his concerns for her safety. He reciprocates her feelings and he promises to forever keep her safe.

Following the events of Mew Aqua, Ichigo and Masaya go out as a couple together to the aquarium. Quiche has a romantic unhealthy predatory infatuation toward her and it is one-sided regarding the two being enemies. He is an alien who goes out of his way to murder her boyfriend on multiple occasions. Ichigo is not amused by Quiche’s unwanted advances and she refuses to pay him any attention. She rejects Quiche and she tries to find Aoyama in order to make sure he’s safe and sound. A Chimera Anima attack is summoned at the aquarium and in the climax of the fight, the Blue Knight awakens.

The Blue Knight vows to protect Mew Strawberry by any means necessary despite nobody else really knowing who he is. He is an alien, however, he fights against the aliens themselves, and he wields a sword. Alongside this, he provides combative intelligence to the Mews allowing them to prepare in the case of conflict. Keiichiro and Ryou are suspicious of him, and to them, both are not sure of who he is affiliated with.

New episodes are released every Wednesday on the TV Tokyo Network, and in total there are 27 episodes. 12 of these are derived from the first season, and 15 of these are from the second season. The total number of episodes have not been released entirely, however, they will be released soon. Moreover, the anime has received excellent reception from audiences alike, captivating its audience with its lively cheerful exuberance.
