New “alternate learning space” being added
When walking through the halls at South Lakes, you may have come across a large, empty, area on the second floor of classrooms.
Formerly a locker pod, the entire section has been cleared out, with new flooring laid down in anticipation of something new. The new space has plans to become an alternative learning space for teachers and classes to use throughout the school year.
The new learning space will leave projectors and presentation systems in the traditional classrooms, providing heavier focus on group collaboration and discussions. The space is available for reservation from all classes at South Lakes and will likely be a place for socratic seminars, book discussions, and other group collaboration activities.
The furniture for the space has already been ordered and is awaiting shipment, so it is expected that it may take through this summer to be completed.
