Merriweather Post Pavilion is reopening this summer for the first time since September 2019. With Maryland loosening restrictions, the pavilion is able to open to 100% capacity. Maryland raised capacity limits to 25% on May 1, but many smaller indoor venues remain closed until restrictions are fully lifted, due to losing more money being only partially open than fully closed.

The Merriweather Post Pavilion is an outdoor facility, meaning they have fewer restrictions and they can host at full capacity. They will not be selling tickets at the shows like they used to, instead people must purchase them ahead of time. 

Their first concert back will be on July 2 with a rock music festival that was originally supposed to happen in April 2021. Along with delayed and postponed tours, many artists have just cancelled their 2021 tour dates for extra precaution. Halsey and Maren Morris both cancelled their tours; they were scheduled to play Merriweather this summer. But artists like Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and The Zac Brown Band will be at Merriweather late summer, early fall.

It’s not just the artists playing concerts or the fans of live music who are excited, but the restaurants around the venue. Restaurants are returning to mostly normal dining options in Maryland, though they will still require face masks to be worn indoors while moving around the restaurants.
