Fun fall activities
As the air gets cooler and the days get shorter, it begins to feel more and more like fall. When the seasons change from summer to fall, the activities change along with it. Swimming becomes hiking and the beach turns into the forest. For some, fall means cold and dark. But it can be a beautiful time of year with many fun activities to get you in the spirit!
Hiking is one of the best ways to enjoy the crisp air and look at the changing trees. There are so many beautiful hikes around Reston that are low intensity but still enjoyable for anyone looking to be out in nature. Lake Fairfax is a beautiful setting to watch the leaves change and the lake adds an even more enjoyable aspect. Another amazing hike is Great Falls Park. Great Falls Park is one of the most beautiful places in the area and also has rapids with the changing trees. If you’re looking for a more advanced hike, the Shenandoah Mountains is a wonderful place to see the mountains and trees change.
If hiking isn’t your thing, a picnic outside is another great option to enjoy the changing trees. The temperature is perfect for a meal outdoors and picnicking is the perfect way to enjoy nature. Lake Fairfax is perfect for picnicking once again but eating near one of the other lakes in Reston is also a great option.
Another way to enjoy the fall season is to start drinking warm drinks. Iced coffee is a nice refreshing summer drink but when the temperature drops it might be time to enjoy a warm drink instead. From apple cider to hot chocolate, coffee, and lattes, there are endless opportunities for warm drinks to get you in the Fall spirit.
Fall isn’t complete without lighting a candle! The best way to get into the fall spirit is having a candle to warm up a room. Not only do they smell great, but they also make a room feel so much more relaxing.
Decorating pumpkins, although typical, is another great fall activity. Decorating pumpkins can be more than just carving a Jack-O-Lantern, you can paint them and decorate them on the outside without the messiness of carving out the pumpkin.
One of my favorite fall foods is s’mores! Even just roasting the marshmallows on a stove or fireplace can get the desired effect of a delicious s’more. These classic snacks are perfect for fall and will be sure to get you in the mood for fall time!
Get fall clothes! A new sweater, pair of jeans, or leggings are the perfect way to get prepped for the cooler weather and excited for fall fashion!
These are only a few of the endless ideas that can get you ready for fall! There are so many fun opportunities for fall that can make this season even more fun!
