Senior makes humorous edits to photos
These days, when South Lakes students sign into Facebook, they do not first look to see who liked their status or for what pictures their best friend posted.
Instead, many students first look for the new Face-In-The-Hole pictures that senior Ben Kim creates.
“I made the Face-In-The-Hole pictures for everyone because I wanted it to be a birthday gift for some of my friends,” Kim said. “Then other people asked me to make them one.”
These pictures feature cutout faces of many students pasted onto a variety of backgrounds. The combination of familiar faces with peculiar backgrounds has made Kim’s Face-In-The-Hole pictures popular among many students.
“His pictures are hilarious,” senior Kristin Tran said. “He pastes people’s faces on different bodies, and some of the edits are really funny.”
Although Kim originally started making the Face-In-The-Hole pictures for a few friends, once more students saw his humorous edits they began to ask Kim to make one for themselves.
“I always ask Ben to make me Face-In-The-Holes,” senior Spencer Smith said. “I love seeing what he comes up with.”
Kim claims he has created over 400 Face-In-The-Hole pictures.
“I saw some of my other friends make it for other people,” Kim said. “Then I found the program online and now I can make my own scenarios.”
These scenarios range from faces pasted on other bodies, to faces pasted on cars or buses.
“All scenarios are my favorite,” Kim said.” I use transportation pictures because I think it looks cool.”
However, Kim is not only valued for his ability to create comical edits, he is a part of the Class of 2014 that everyone adores. He serves as a constant friendly face in the hallways.
“Ben always has a smile on his face,” senior Melissa Thomas said. “He is always there to give you a compliment or give you a hug and make you have a good day. When Ben compliments you, you know you are going to have a good day.”
As well as having a unique smile, Kim is known for his unique talent of remembering everyone’s birthday off the top of his head. His ability to remember so many dates is one thing among his other enjoyable qualities.
“Ben’s best quality is his spirit and his handshakes,” senior Dre Puryear said. “We have a special one that is 10 seconds long and really fun.”
Though the graduating Class of 2014 will miss Kim as they move on after high school, he will continue to be a part of the Seahawk family.
“I may be a super senior next year,” Kim said. “So I won’t miss South Lakes too much, but I will miss the senior class.”
