While many students enjoyed eating or relaxing with their families during their Thanksgiving break, senior Fred Kyle jumped out of an airplane 14,000 feet above the ground.
What exciting activity did you do on your Thanksgiving break?
I went sky diving in West Virginia.
How did that work?
At first, my primary parachute wouldn’t open. It got jammed. I had to use my back-up parachute and for a moment I was genuinely terrified.
What was going through your head when you realized your parachute was not properly working?
I wondered for a second if I was going to die. But then I remembered I had my back-up parachute so I relaxed.
Would you ever consider going sky diving again?
Absolutely not. It was a once in a life time thing and too scary to repeat. I think I’ll stick to normal sports.
