Despite coming out in 2022, Coco’s Sodas and Sweets has just recently become wildly popular in the Fairfax County area. This soda shop is located on Maple Avenue, in the quaint town of Vienna, Virginia. This unique shop specializes in customized soda’s, otherwise known as “dirty sodas” with syrups, creamers, and different fruits added into these drinks to enhance the flavor.
Coco’s Sodas + Sweets was founded in 2022 by residents in Vienna, Virginia, Ben and Heather Cicheli. The two wanted to bring their favorite product from their home state Utah, to a new home in Virginia. In the West, soda mixing shops are very big, so when the owners moved to Virginia, they were sad that there wasn’t anywhere in this area to enjoy one of the delicious products. They decided to make their own shop with a fun environment. Coco’s is considered unique compared to other shops in this area and wants to continue to create an inviting experience for all their customers, while serving products to the best of their ability.
Part of the spike in their popularity among teenagers could be due to their weekly deals. Students from schools all around the area including James Madison, Oakton and South Lakes High School often get their afternoon treat here. On Thursdays, otherwise known as “Thirsty Thursdays,” Coco’s runs a deal where if you bring in your own tumbler, cup or bottle, you can fill it with your soda of choice for only $2 as long as it is under 44 oz. Additionally, if student athletes show up in their sports uniforms, they will receive half off their drinks!
There are many popular signature drinks at Coco’s. The Nags Head contains Diet Dr Pepper, coconut syrup, coconut cream and fresh lime. This is definitely a fan favorite at the shop. The Pipeline is another well liked drink at Coco’s, made with Coke, pineapple syrup, coconut syrup and coconut cream. Honolua is a lemonade based drink, with the added flavors of blue raspberry and peach. Lastly, Mavericks is a Mountain Dew, with strawberry syrup, pineapple syrup and coconut cream. These are just four of the drink options at Coco’s. As you can probably imagine, there are many more soda bases, energy drink bases, syrups, creamers and more to choose from!
In addition to sodas, Coco’s also sells a selection of sweet treats. You can often find cake pops, cookies, lollipops and other baked goods here. On top of that, Coco’s sells shaved ice with the option of many different flavors, as well as additional add-ins. Lastly, Coco’s sells delicious pretzel bites you can either buy plain, or with cinnamon sugar.
“I love cocos because it’s so delicious, there are so many varieties of drinks and flavors and because it is so cheap compared to other drink shops in the area”, said Junior Jamie Banton at South Lakes High School.
Overall, Cocos Sodas + Sweets is a one of a kind store here in Northern Virginia. With its variety of tasty snacks, soda flavors, and their welcoming customer service, Cocos will most likely continue to grow and gain more customers every day.
