South Lakes High School Choir: Headed to Disney World!
Members of the South Lakes advanced choirs will be experiencing a “whole new world” this week! After the chorus students performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in the spring of 2019, they auditioned for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: singing at the Walt Disney World Candlelight Processional and Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida. Talk about a big deal! In the spring, “Chamber Singers,” “Select Treble,” and “Bella Voce” sent Disney a video of them singing “O Holy Night,” and they loved it. In September, choir members were able to audition for a spot in the Processional.
More than 100 people from chorus are going on the trip. A little over 70 of choir students are performing in the Candlelight Processional, and everyone coming on the trip will be performing at Disney Springs. The “Candlelight Processional” consists of a mass choir, orchestra and a celebrity narrator. The famous Neil Patrick Harris will be the narrator of the night, how great is that?

The Candlelight Processional centers around the story of Christmas and music relating to more Christian-based songs for the season. The Disney Springs performance, however, will be filled with more traditional holiday songs including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland.”
Personally, being a member of Select Treble, I am so stoked for this trip and I am proud of everyone who has worked so hard to be a part of something so cool and exciting!
The trip is from December 4- December 7. It may be a short trip but it sure is filled with a busy go, go, go schedule!
