Art Club for the unskilled opening
An art club for students who do not need prior art experience is being created.
The club is being created to give students without time in their schedules for art an opportunity to be able to release their creative spirits.
Seniors Carlie Sigle and Ainsley Eakins decided to start the club when they realized the lack of opportunities to be creative outside of their tight schedules.
“We both really care about art, but neither of us have the opportunity to do it,” Sigle said. “And, I personally don’t have much skill in the area. We decided it would be really cool if the school gave us the chance to do art as well.”
The club will be named “Art for All and All for Art” and meet on Mondays in art teacher Matt Ravenstahl’s room.
“A typical meeting would involve us giving everyone a prompt and let everyone go free and create what kind of art they want to make,” Eakins said. “They can draw or paint or sculpt.”
Once a month the club will host a special meeting showcasing and celebrating the art created.
“You should join the club because it’s a great way to meet others who like art,” Eakins said. “It also lets you release stress and explore something you’ve been thinking about by creating art.”
