The Class of 2014 will host the 2nd Annual Talent Hunt on March 10 at 2 p.m.
Assistant principal Dana Walker’s former fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, is sponsoring this event and awarding prizes to the best performances.
The show is open to all students who can perform a piece that falls under one of three categories: music, dance, and drama.
Students can showcase their talent in music through singing or playing an instrument and must give all judges a printed copy of the music.
An onsite accompanist will be present, but no pre-recorded accompaniment will be permitted during performances.
Participants may also dance an interpretive movement to music or recite a monologue poem. Any recitation must be performed from memory. Performances cannot exceed five minutes.
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity will award the first place winner a $500.00 savings bond and a spot in the regional competition. The winner must be available to participate in the regional competition on April 14 in Roanoke, Virginia. The fraternity can cover the expenses if necessary.
The second and third place winners will receive $200.00 and $100.00 savings bonds respectively.
If you are interested in trying out or have any questions, contact Walker in the sophomore sub-school or the fraternity’s chairman, Dr. Steve Lewis, at steve.lewis@verizon.net.
