Math teacher Sherri Evans and her husband have been married for since December 21, 1991. In celebration of their 20-year wedding anniversary, Evans’ husband, Kelly Evans, surprised her with flowers and a serenade on Dec. 21.
After school, a group of students from Seahawk Men’s A Cappella met in her room after school to sing to her as her husband gave her flowers.
“I knew I was getting flowers and then Mustakil said something during class so I knew something was up,” said Evans. “It was especially special because I was with my husband who I love so much and the fact that the kids were involved was so special.”
Seahawk Men’s A Cappella member junior Mustakil Ali reflected on the occurrence.
“It was lovely to see her reaction,” said Ali. “She’s a great teacher and she deserves the most.”
Both of Evans’s children were there to share this moment. Junior Sam Evans shared his feelings of his parent’s long-lasting relationship.
“I’m really lucky and grateful to have such amazing parents who are so in love,” said Evans.
“We have to time our 50th anniversary with the students’ reunion so they can sing to me again,” said Evans.
