Junior Rachel Berman is one of the student leaders of the Hype Squad, serving as an administrator on the Hype Squad Facebook group. Berman participates in swimming and soccer for South Lakes and devotes her fall season to cheering in the stands.

What was the last song you listened to?

My favorite song, “Free Sprit” by Drake, this morning in the car driving to school.

Why is it your favorite song?

I just discovered it but I always listen to Drake, he’s my favorite artist. It reminds me of all the good times I had at Virginia Tech when I visited my friends last weekend, because that’s where I first really got into the song.

What do you mean by “into the song”?

It gets me in the zone and focused. I listen to it to get pumped up and before football games because I’m in the Hype Squad.

How is the Hype Squad doing?

It’s off to a great start, but basketball season is going to be even better. People just get more excited about basketball.
