Though the Colorado Rockies performed terribly in 2024 and have done nothing to improve this offseason, one player has caught league-wide attention. Jefry Yan is an exciting talent discovered in men’s league baseball before he signed to play with the Rockies. During a year in Japan, he allowed five and a half runs per nine innings.
Yan is special because of his incredible celebrations. He is a vibrant and entertaining character that both fans and players love. His strikeout celebrations, in particular, provide a type of joy and athleticism the league needs right now.
Spring training has gone well for Yan. He is not putting up superstar numbers, but his performance has significantly improved, surpassing the average Rockies pitcher. The Rockies need to add a player to their big-league roster. Of their options right now, Jefry Yan appears the most entertaining option for the team and the entire baseball league.
Despite his subpar numbers from his time in Japan, Yan has been playing fairly well this season. He has so far given up around four and a half runs per nine innings. That number is above average for a Colorado Rockie. The team’s bullpen and pitching, in general, have been terrible throughout the franchise’s history. Yan’s appearance has made things better for the team.
The Rockies won’t be worth watching this year unless they keep Yan. This should not be too worrisome as the front office has repeatedly proven not to care about the team’s success. In addition, Yan can slightly improve the Rockies’ expected abysmal season while putting a smile on the faces of athletes and viewers.
