Recently traded super star Anthony Davis was injured in his first game with the Dallas Mavericks. The game was against the Houston Rockets, who were coming off a five game losing streak. The Mavericks hoped trading their superstar guard Luka Doncic would help push them into the playoffs and solve their defensive problem.
The ball is tipped off and the game starts. When the first quarter ends the score is 20 – 33 and the Mavericks on top, with Anthony Davis being a key player on offense and defense. The second quarter rolled around and it’s now 48-65 with yet another quarter of the Mavericks trying to prove the trade was worth it, until the third quarter happened.
Anthony Davis was having an amazing game, dropping 26 points, 16 rebounds,7 assists, and 3 blocks. Overall, the defense that the Mavericks traded for really had a chance to shine. However, unluckily, Anthony Davis suffered a non contact injury late in the third quarter.
The injury he suffered was an adductor strain which is a sharp pain in your inner thigh or groin. This is not the first time Anthony Davis has suffered this type of injury. Anthony Davis has suffered numerous injuries. Ranging from thumb, foot, groin, abductor, ankle, finger, and eye, he is experienced with injuries. Nonetheless, he is definitely becoming more and more injury prone. Then again, with Anthony Davis being the ripe age of 31, his risk of injury will only continue to climb.
Davis is projected to miss two weeks because an abductor sprain at the lowest grade takes up to two weeks to heal. If Anthony Davis suffered a higher grade he could probably miss three to six weeks or four months. All of these possible outcomes would surely not help with the Mavericks race into the playoffs.
With the Mavericks having a 29-26 record placing eight in the western conference and placing third in their south west division(at the time this article was written) there is a lot at stake. This injury to Davis will most significantly reduce the chances of the Mavericks placing higher in their conference and possibly might not make the playoffs. This would eventually mark the fall of the Dallas Mavericks since they made the Finals last year.
