Jerry Juedy, previously a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, had the best performance of a wide receiver against their former team. He was traded back in March 2024 to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth and sixth-round pick. Currently, the Cleveland Browns hold a 2-9 record. The Broncos are 8-4. Regardless, Juedy proved his worth when the two teams faced off on Monday on Broncos turf.
On the first play of the night, Juedy received a pass from Browns Quarterback, Jameis Winston and ran an impressive 40 yards. Unfortunately, the team struggled to continue Juedy’s push and settled for a missed field goal. The Broncos then had possession and stormed up the field, scoring a touchdown.
With the ball back in their hands, the Browns rushed the field and scored a touchdown late into the first quarter. The score was tied. Continuing their efforts, the Browns intercepted a throw on the Broncos’ thirty, yet were stopped and once again had to settle for a field goal, making the score 10-7. Their victory was short-lived as the Broncos scored a touchdown, making the score 10-14, Broncos.
In retaliation, the Browns drove down the field with a big thirty-yard completion to Jerry Juedy, placing them on the Bronco’s 20-yard line with the chance to score. Winston threw a disappointing interception and the Broncos ran into the endzone for a pick-six, making the score 10-21.
With ball possession, Winston passed to none other than Jerry Juedy for a huge pickup. Winston then threw another first-down pass to Juedy. To complete his comeback, Winston threw the ball into the endzone to Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku, a touchdown for the Browns. The score was now 17-21.
Deep in their own territory, the Broncos attempted a long pass that was carried to the end zone, making the score 17-28. Winston returned fire by launching a moonball down the field to Jeudy who then ran for a 70-yard touchdown. Jeudy followed the play with a two-point completion, the score 25-28.
After Jeudy’s touchdown, the Broncos made some big plays but were stopped and had to settle for a field goal, the score 25-31. Brown’s defense then intercepted a pass, setting Winston up for another throw to Jeudy for big gains. Later on the same drive, Jeudy puts the team on his back and gets the first down, saving the drive for the Browns. Jeudy’s effort leads to an easy touchdown pass to Browns running back Nick Chubb, making the score 32-31, the Browns back on top.
The Broncos get the ball back once more and waste time, limiting the Brown’s chance of making any comeback. The Broncos eventually score a field goal, putting them ahead once more 32-34. Winston cracks under pressure and throws a pick-six, another touchdown for the Broncos. The score was now 32-41. The Browns desperately try to come back, but Winston is overwhelmed and the game ends 32-41, Broncos.
Though the Browns didn’t win, Jerry Juedy had a spectacular game. He had a season-high 235 yards, 13 targets, 9 receptions, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion, all in one game. Overall, Juedy put everything into this game and it showed.
