This Thursday Night Football against the 8-2 Pittsburgh Steelers and 2-8 Cleveland Browns faced off at Huntington Bank Field. Many people were expecting a dominating win by the steelers because they were victorious in their last two games against two powerhouses, the Washington Commanders, and the Baltimore Ravens. Both Commanders and Steelers are ranked second in their division as well. The game started as usual, but something unexpected happened.
The game started off in normal weather conditions with slight wind and the Steelers in possession of the ball. The Steelers went down the field just to be held at the 40 yard line and had to settle for a field goal, in which they missed to the right. Then, the Browns got the ball and featured a new Quarterback, Jameis Winston. However it was to no avail and they had to punt. Both teams went back and forth not converting on third downs but eventually the Steelers settled for a field goal, making the score 3-0 Steelers.
But then the snow started to fall with slight flurries softly falling down. Despite the weather, the Browns stormed down the field all the way to the one yard line. The Browns running back, Nick Chubb, took the hand off and ran into the endzone. Just after, the Browns kicked the extra point to make the score 3-7, Browns.
Shortly after the Steelers had possession and Russell Wilson, Quarterback for the Steelers fumbles the ball, turning it over to the defense. Shortly after, the Browns get the ball and they strive down the field just to get stopped on third down eventually leading for the Browns to kick a field goal which makes the score 3-10, Browns.
Eventually the Steelers get the ball in the middle of the third quarter. But out of nowhere massive amounts of snow starts to fall. But only more snow was yet to come
Then, during this drive the Steelers march into Browns territory. But got hold of the first down and settled for a field goal just for the kicker to be met with sheets of white
Despite being able to barely see or like how the announcer said “if you can find it” the kicker, Chris Boswell, still made it so now the score is 6-10, Browns are still up. The Browns get the ball back and want to extend the lead. They trot down the field all the way to the one yard line, again. And this time Jameis Winston runs into the endzone for a touchdown. But due to the lack of vision because of the snow the Browns went for the two point conversion to be safe and converted making the score 6-18, still Browns. The Steelers get the ball back but this time they switch out their Quarterbacks several times with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. However this does work and they go deep into Browns territory just to run the ball straight into the endzone with running back Jaylen Warren. And with the extra point good the score is 13-18, once again Browns.
The Steelers defense stops the Browns offense in a critical fourth quarter to give a chance to the Steelers offense to take the lead late. So then the Steelers get the ball back and go into Browns territory just for Russell Wilson to read the defense and throw a touchdown pass to Calvin Austin III in a must score moment. Now instead of going for a field goal they go for a two point conversion but get stopped, making the score 19-18, Steelers.
Then the Browns get the ball back in a must score situation. They got stuck on a fourth and four in an important moment but Jameis Winston threw a pass just for Jerry Juedy for the first down. Then in a third and seven moment needed another first down it was yet another clutch catch by Jerry Juedy to get more than the first down. Then with under a minute left down by one the Browns run the ball with Nick Chubb to score a touchdown. They try to even extend the lead by going for the two point conversion but get stopped. Making the score 19-24, Browns on top. Now it’s Steelers Ball with less than thirty seconds to go. And they go for a hail mary… But get denied for the Browns’ victory.
