The South Lakes gymnastics team are Northern Regional champions! The team got first place at their regional competition, meaning they are moving on to the State competition.

Along with the team win, there were also individual advancements. Sophomore Abby Anderson is the individual Northern Regional champion, receiving first in the All-around, Bars, as well as third on Floor. Freshman Ava Adams is also going to States after getting fourth place on Bars. Freshman Taryn Dougherty placed fourth on Vault, meaning she will go to States as well. All three gymnasts will be competing in the individual state competition, as well as the team competition.

Throughout this season, the Gymnastics team has worked hard at practices and given their all at competitions, so getting first place was a great culmination. The team has made a lot of progress during the season, and many gymnasts have put in a lot of effort in order to make this season as special as possible. The win demonstrated all of the effort that was put in by each gymnast has paid off.

“It was exciting to see everyone show off their progress that they’ve made throughout the season,” SLHS gymnastics team senior Michelle Levault commented.

The Gymnastics team is very proud of both the individual and team achievements. Being the first SLHS Gymnastics team to win at Regionals since 1991 means a lot to them, and is not being overlooked. They are excited to have fun and do their best at the upcoming State competition, and finish out the season on a high note.
