Mock 2021 NFL Draft
With the NFL‘s 55th year in the books, we look ahead to what will be an unprecedented off-season that begins March 17 when teams will be able to sign available free agents. By far the biggest event of each offseason is the NFL draft. This year the draft will take place on April 29th through May 1st. The Jacksonville Jaguars will be picking first after going an abysmal 1-15. This year’s draft is headlined with superstar Quarterbacks(QB) with the likes of Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, and Trey Lance. If NFL teams decide to take a franchise QB or bolster up their defense or something totally different, this year’s draft is looking like one of the best yet.
Jacksonville Jaguars – QB Trevor Lawrence
Even though Lawrence and the Clemson Tigers failed to make the NCAA championship game, NFL scouts are still extremely high on the star quarter back (QB) from Clemson.
New York Jets – QB Zach Wilson
If and when the Jets decide to move on from Sam Darnold at quarterback, the clear choice is Zach Wilson. While Wilson didn’t get the National attention like fellow QB Trevor Lawrence he put up terrific numbers as the BYU quarterback.
Miami Dolphins – WR Devonta Smith
The first non-quarterback off the board is the 2020 Heisman winner Devonta Smith. Wide receiver (WR) Smith wracked up over 1,800 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns as the main weapon in the NCAA champion Alabama’s star-filled roster.
Atlanta Falcons – QB Justin Fields
The era of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones is nearly over and it is time for a new face in Atlanta. Fields is the future and can learn behind a potential Hall of Famer in Matt Ryan.
Cincinnati Bengals – OT Penei Sewell
The Bengals bring in the top offensive lineman in the draft to protect young star QB, Joe Burrow. Cincinnati needs to refurbish their O-line and nobody better to do that with than offensive tackle (OT) Sewell.
Philadelphia Eagles – WR Ja’marr Chase
Philadelphia has had their shares of draft day mishaps after drafting WRs J.J Arcega Whiteside and Jelan Reager in consecutive years. The Eagles need a top WR for Jalen Hurts to throw to, and why not go get arguably the best receiver in the draft, with Ja’marr Chase?
Detroit Lions – WR Jaylen Waddle
The Lion’s core receivers are headed into free agency and it is time to revamp their offensive weapons. After trading away Stafford for Goff and some draft picks, the Lions are looking to rebuild and to help them is a stud, WR Jaylen Waddle.
Carolina Panthers – QB Trey Lance
Carolina is a QB away from being a contender in today’s NFL. With Christian McCaffery healthy again, the Panthers can make a run with division powerhouses, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Denver Broncos – CB Caleb Farley
Farley gives the Broncos some much needed help in the secondary with Justin Simmon’s future in Denver in question. The AFC West is loaded with young QBs and how else to stop them than with a lockdown cornerback (CB).
Dallas Cowboys – CB Patrick Surtain
Dallas needs help across the defensive side of the ball and that starts with shutdown corner Patrick Surtain. With two corners set to hit free agency this spring, Dallas needs to improve their secondary.
