Varsity boys tennis looks to finish season strong with two final matches

As the spring season comes to an end later this week, boys varsity tennis wraps up their season with a match at Langley and a match against Hayfield.

This season, boys varsity tennis has gone 8-5, highlighted by two 9-0 wins over Fairfax and 9-0 win over Washington Lee.

“This season has been so great,” senior Sanjeev Gupta said. “The team has really improved since last season and the new freshmen are really adding to our success. Our record is okay and we’ve had some really tough losses that could’ve easily been wins.”

The boys will play their next match today at Langley at 3:30 p.m. Langley is currently number one in the conference, winning all 12 matches they have played this season.

“Langley is a really good team,” Gupta said. “I expect it to be a really tough match but I think if we play it right, we could definitely come off with a close victory.”

The boys are coming off a close 4-5 loss against McLean.

“That was a really tough loss,” Gupta said. “William played really well and came off with a close win and Quang and his partner also played really well. We really need to recover from this loss if we hope to even come close to winning today.”
