Track and Field competes in Centreville Invitational March 22
The Track and Field Team had its first competition of the season on Saturday, March 22, at the 15-team Centreville Invitational. There were several top South Lakes finishes in both boys and girls events.
“It was super cold in the morning,” said freshman track member Seretha Mchugh. “But we still did really well. I ran in the 800 meter dash and the 4×400 which I got second place in.”
The following girls medaled in their events: Jordan Lozama, 2nd place in the 200 meter dash and 3rd place in the 100 meter dash; Devyn Jones, 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles; Nikayla Hoyte, 4th in the 200 meter dash; Sabrina Muldrow, 4th in the triple jump; Danielle Hale, 5th in the shot put and 6th in the discus throw; and Ozioma Chinaka, 6th in the shot put.
The following boys medaled: Skander Ballard, 2nd in the triple jump; Michael Uhrig, 3rd in the 800 meter dash; Nathan Stone, 4th in the 110 meter hurdles; and Ben O’Connor, 5th in the 300 meter hurdles. The boys relay team of Berket Beyene, Eric Quach, Nathan Stone, and Max Gillum won the shuttle hurdle relay.
