Frail, Friedrich commit to Hampden-Sydney, Mary Washington respectively for DIII lacrosse
Seniors Jack Frail and Alex Friedrich committed to Hampden-Sydney College and University of Mary Washington respectively for Division III lacrosse.
Frail took initiative and communicated with Hampden-Sydney head coach Ray Rostan that he was considering playing Division III lacrosse at Hampden-Sydney.
“The head coach watched me play with my club team over the summer and I went to Hampton Sydney to play lacrosse in front of recruits,” Frail said.
After recruiting sessions, Rostan expressed interest in having Frail play lacrosse for Hampden-Sydney.
Frail had to choose between St. Lawrence University and Hampden-Sydney.
“I chose Hampden-Sydney for its tradition and academics as well as the strength of the lacrosse team,” Frail said.
Friedrich also intended to play college level lacrosse. His current lacrosse coach notified Friedrich that Mary Washington was interested in recruiting a goalie.
“I contacted the coach of Mary Washington and showed him my credentials,” Friedrich said. “He was very interested so I decided to go with Mary Washington because I wanted to stay in state and it’s not too expensive.”
However, Mary Washington head coach Kurt Glaeser’s assessment of Friedrich has been restricted to statistics and highlight reels.
“[Glaeser] should be coming up soon to watch me play a fall ball or tournament game,” Friedrich said.
