Over spring break boys lacrosse hosted the first annual South Lakes Invitational. The invite included several local Northern Region teams.
They kicked off the weekend facing Mount Vernon Mar. 21 with a 7-6 victory. The team continued on to defeat rival Herndon with a 9-1 shutout Mar. 22.
“I think both the Mount Vernon and Herndon games we played well as a team,” senior player Kyle Savage said. “We continue to become more cohesive as a team as each game goes on.”
Due to the weather the final game of the invitational against West Springfield was rescheduled to April 1.
“It’s nice to get in some home games,” Savage continued. “But I don’t think our field could take another game.”
The team traveled to West Springfield fighting closely but was defeated 7-5 by the Spartans.
Overall the team has a 3-1 record with their next game at home against Fairfax April 5.
