Outdoor track traveled to Battlefield High school in Haymarket on March 16 to compete in the Battlefield Relays, their first meet of the season.
The highlight of the meet was Monica Lannen winning the girls 1600 (mile) meter run with a time of 5:34. Erin Bidwell also placed in the mile run with a time of 5:47, receiving fourth place.
 Andrew McCool placed sixth with a time of 4:56 in the boy’s mile run. Sean Miller placed 12th with a time of 5:06. The boys 4 by 1600 meter relay team placed tenth with a time of 21:23.
 The boys placed 12th in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:17. The girls placed 10th with a time of 15:09. In the 4 by 800 meter relay, the boys placed seventh, getting a time of 9:04 while the girls placed fourth with a time of 11:01.
In the girl’s 800 meter sprint medley, South Lakes placed 3rd with a time of 2:07. The boy’s 800 meter sprint medley placed sixth receiving a time of 1:42.
In 110 meter hurdles section of the meet, Max Gillum placed 21st with a time of 19.10. Johnny Doley placed 31st with a time of 21.22. Comfort Reed placed 25th in the girls 100 meter hurdles with a time of 21.17
For the 4×400 meter relay, the girls placed 5th with a time of 4:44 and the boys placed 11th with a time of 4:06. In the 1600 sprint medley, the girls team got 15th placed with a time of 5:19 and the boy’s team was disqualified.
The 4×100 meter relay had South Lakes placing 16th with a time of 48.89. The boy’s 4 by 200 meter relay placed 15th with a time of 1:41 and the girls team received a time of 2:01, getting 10th place.
In the field section of the meet, Skander Ballard placed 23rd in the Long Jump with a measurement of 17 feet and 3 inches. The girls Triple Jump had Comfort Reed placing 18th with a measurement of 28 feet and 3 inches.
Skander Ballard also placed 13th in the Triple Jump with a measurement of 37 feet and 6 inches.
By the end of the Battlefield Relays, the boys’ team placed 17th out of 20 teams, and the girls’ team placed 17th out of 21 teams.
