Twenty-five track and field athletes traveled to Hampton for the Virginia AAA State Indoor Track Meet at Boo Williams Sportplex Feb. 22-23.
Many of those athletes exceeded their seeds to place and score for the team.
Placing top eight in any event at the state meet qualifies an athlete to have an “All State” title.
The girls placed 14 overall with a total of 14 points. The boys placed 30 overall with six points.
In place order, the following athletes scored at the state meet qualifying them as All State athletes:
3rd place- Girls 4×400 meter relay of Grace Gillen, Kyannah Calhoun, Maya Rodriquez, and Delaney Wickman
3rd place- Boys 4×800 meter relay of Ashkan Mohammadi, Michael Kerr, Luis Rivas, and Michael McHugh
6th place- Junior Danielle Hale, long jump
6th place- Sophomore Delaney Wickman, 300 meter dash
8th place- Senior Kyannah Calhoun, 500 Meter Dash
8th place- Girls 4×800 meter relay of Augusta Durham, Abby Reinhold, Devin Nieusma, and Grace Gillen
In addition, the girls 4×400 meter relay achieved a school record with a 3:58.35 time, over nine seconds faster than its 2012 state time.
