Varsity girls basketball defeated Marshall 66-32 on January 8, giving them a record of 12-2.
Juniors Caitlyn Jenson and Natalie Toma led the team with Jenson scoring nineteen points and Toma with eleven. The Seahawks took control of the game right at the start and maintained it for the entire game. The first half ended strong with a 38-10 lead.
“I think that we played well from the beginning which set the tone for the game,” Coach Christy Scott said. “Everyone came in and did their part. It was a great team win, especially coming off of a loss against Fairfax on Friday.”
The girls continued to show their strength during the second half when they continued to hold a lead over Marshall. Everyone did their part making this game an overall team effort. Points were scored by each of the girls during the game.
“I think we did well as a team and we played efficiently together,” sophomore Brenda Kamga said. “If we continue to play like this we will continue to go farther maybe even making it to districts.”
Seahawks prepared for the game with a crucial Saturday practice which put them ahead of their opponents.
“I think the game went really well,” junior Natalie Toma said. “We knew they were an easy team going in but we still played our hearts out as always and ended up with another win.”
The next game will be against Madison on January 11.
