The boys and girls basketball teams, ranked third in the district, are beginning the first round of their district games tonight at 5:45 for girls and 7:30 for boys.
The boys team was 15-6 this season and players are optimistic for playing Jefferson in the game.
“I think we will do well because we are far more athletic than the other team,” said sophomore center Ethan Clark. “I’m very confident that we will win.”
If the team does well, they will continue on to the district semi-finals.
“I predict that we will win districts and semi-finals and that we’ll play Langley in the championship,” said junior forward Evan Keys.
The team credits their confidence to the hard work they have put forth to prepare for the postseason.
“I know we will do successful because of the amount of hard work and effort we’ve shown this season,” said sophomore forward Clayton O’Neill. “I’m sure we will win the game tonight.”
The girls team went 14-7 and takes on Langley in the district game.
The girls team is also optimistic for the game and excited to play.
“We have grown as a team this season,” said sophomore guard Natalie Toma. “I know we have a good chance in making it to the semi-finals.”
The team believes they have the potential to win districts.
“I believe it’ll be like redemption, since we were knocked out in the first round last year,” said sophomore guard Caitlin Jensen.
