Dance Team is scheduled to compete at Nationals Feb. 3 in Orlando at Disney World.
“This year our dance team is getting good opportunities and we do a lot more competitions,” said
junior co-captain Jacqueline Angel.
The team attended dance camp over the summer where they practiced with other teams and learned choreography for school year performances.
“At camp, each dancer is adjudicated then receives white, red, or blue ribbons,” said Angel, “Our team received almost all blue ribbons meaning we get to compete at Nationals.”
At Nationals the team will compete in two dances, Jazz and Kick.
“We need to work hard on getting cleaner in Jazz, but for Kick, with more practice we will get really good.” said Angel, “I’m really hopeful and anticipating what will happen at Nationals.”
Recently the school sent Dance Team to George Mason University where they competed against highly ranked teams that they will see in Orlando.
“I saw it as good practice especially because some of our dancers had never danced at a competition before,” said Angel, “but it’s a reminder we have a lot more work to do before February.”
