On Tuesday Nov. 29, the varsity girls basketball team played their season opener at Westfield. The varsity Seahawks lost 39-29.
Senior guard Emily Lopynski led the team with eight points and two steals. Sophomore center and forward Abby Rendle scored six points and had five rebounds and blocked shots.
“I think we played great,” said Rendle. “It was a tough game but I think we can move past it and have a successful season.”
Both the freshman and junior varsity girls basketball teams won their games. Freshman won 43-29 and junior varsity won 41-39.
The varsity Seahawks play on Thursday, Dec. 1 against Potomac Falls, at 7 p.m. in the West Springfield Tip Off. The tournament continues on Friday, Dec. 2 against South County at 5:45 p.m. Both games are at West Springfield High School.
