Varsity volleyball lost to McLean in the district tournament, finishing the season with a 9-8 record.
The team consisted of one sophomore, eight juniors, and three seniors. Although losing in the first round of districts, the team improved from last year’s 6-10 record.
“The lack of seniors did not hurt our team,” said junior opposite hitter Maddie Youngren. “With so little seniors, there was more space for juniors, who will keep the team strong next year.”
Highlights of the year included reaching the finals of the Hayfield Hawks Invitational and defeating Herndon.
The volleyball team played their final match against Liberty District foe McLean. The McLean Highlanders ended the Seahawks season with a 2-1 victory.
Senior setter Elise Cross believes that although the districtcompetition for the Seahawks is over, the team has made great strides for the future.
“We did really well this season,” said Cross. “Though we didn’t go very far in districts, I’m still very content with our team’s performance.”
