The varsity volleyball team kicked off Herndon Week on September 6 with a win against the Hornets, 3-0.
Herndon controlled the ball through much of the beginning of the first game, holding a steady 4 to 5 point lead. A timeout midway through the game called by the Seahawks sent them straight on the road to a game victory, 25-17.
During the second game the team’s steady defense held strong against the Hornets. South Lakes continuously struggled to land a serve, hitting long often, but the vibe of the game quickly changed. Almost instantly the team turned their play around and went on to win the game 25-14.
The third game began with the Seahawks leading, 8-1. The Hornets quickly caught up as the Seahawks kept a two point lead, 15-13. The close score stirred up the South Lakes hype squad as the Seahawks clinched their match victory with a 25-23 game win.
“The team was led by Christy Hoffman and Sarah Delaney, our two captains,” said Coach Cheri Hostetler. “Overall the whole team was great!”
