Former US Attorney General Jessica Aber was found dead at the age of 43 in her house in Alexandria. Jessica Aber was known for prosecuting high profile cases involving large criminal organizations and national security.
She began her career clerking with magistrate Judge M.Hannah Lauck in EVDA from 2006-2007. She then was an associate at Mcguire woods before joining EVDA Us Attorneys office in 2009 as an assistant US Attorney. In 2015 she became council to that assistant attorney and a year later deputy chief of the criminal division for the district court. In 2021 she became the third Woman to lead the Eastern District of Virginia’s office. She was then nominated by president Joe Biden. When Donald Trump was inaugurated in 2020 Alba resigned concluding her career serving the United States.
She is described as an unmatched leader according to colleagues in an interview with the Washington post. She was a hardworking dedicated Woman so much so that she drove 50,000 miles speaking with people among communities in Virginia in an attempt to restore the people’s trust in law enforcement.
Cases she worked on include the MS-13 gang leader, former Virginia Governor and cases with Russians accused of conspiracy. Aber and her staff also secured a conviction of a former MS-13 gang member responsible for 6 murders.
Aber also brought an indictment to a Russian national for money laundering, a guilty plea from an Israeli national for his role in facilitating illegal entry to the United States and a corporate espionage case involving Siemens energy inc.
Her death has impacted many people throughout the US Attorney’s office. Coworkers publicly expressed their condolences.
“The loss of Jessica Aber, former US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, is deeply tragic,” said Pamela Bondi.
“Our hearts and prayers go to her and her family and friends during this profoundly difficult time,” said Bondi.
Saturday morning Alba was found unresponsive in her home in Alexandria at approximately 9:20AM. The department discloses to the public that “as a matter of protocol” the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia will provide the cause of death. Authorities have not classified the death as suspicious even though she was only 43 years of age.
