149 shows, 632 days, and two billion dollars later, The Eras Tour has come to an end after its last show in Vancouver, Canada. Taylor Swift’s record shattering tour, which has consumed pop culture for the better part of two years, saw the pop star perform songs from across her catalog to over 10 million fans.
This tour has been especially significant for Swift, propelling her to a new height for her already uncommon popularity. She released two re-recordings of past albums, as well as her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department while the tour was ongoing. The Tortured Poets Department became the most-streamed album of 2024, according to Apple Music. In addition to her career growth, her personal life has been under scrutiny throughout the time she was touring. First, news came in April 2023 that she and her long term partner, Joe Alwyn, had split. After that, she was rumored to be dating 1975 singer Matty Healy, and faced controversy over his past racist remarks. The tour did end with her personal life on a positive note, though, as she started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in September of 2023 and is still with him.
But the tour wasn’t only significant for the singer– her ‘Swifties’, as the fandom is called, formed a huge sense of community through the tour. Exchanging friendship bracelets, dressing up in reference to Swift, and creating special chants to her songs, Swifties have turned the singer’s concerts into rituals of friendship and community.
Swift posted on Instagram with the caption, “It was rare. I was there. I remember it.” Her official fan account, Taylor Nation, shared reels with compilations of fan videos and Swift taking her final bow onstage.
So, what is next for Swift? As of now, there is no news on what the singer-songwriter might be up to after ending her tour. Fans have speculated that she could be up to anything from re-releasing old albums to making a documentary about the tour. Nothing lasts forever, but fans will certainly continue to remember The Eras Tour, its impact, and the memories they made along the way for years to come.
