Virginia’s election results from the national to local level are in.
In the Presidential race, 51% of Virginans voted for Kamala Harris and 46% voted for Donald Trump, giving 13 electoral votes to Harris. With this, she had a total of 226 electoral votes and Trump had 296 votes, securing the 2024 presidential election for Trump.
Democrat Tim Kaine was reelected to the Senate with a 10% lead over Republican candidate Hung Cao.
Democrats made up the majority of Virginia’s seats in the House of Representatives, with six Democrats and five Republicans elected. Democrats Bobby Scott, Jennifer MClellan, Eugene Vidman, Don Beyer, Suhas Subramanyam, and Gerry Connolly were elected to the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th districts. Republicans Rob Wittman, Jen Kiggans, John McGuire, Ben Cline, and Morgan Griffin were elected to the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 9th districts.
An amendment on tax exemption for military families was successfully amended, with 93% voting yes and 6% voting no.
In a more local election for Herndon, Kevin J. LeBlanc Jr. was elected as Mayor of Herndon by a percentage of 56 over Pradip Dhakal who gained 44% of the vote. Also in Herndon, for Town Council, Michael T. Lloyd was elected with a majority of 13%, with the rest of the vote being divided between seven other candidates.
With vote counts wrapping up and finalized results rolling in, voters across Virginia can take a break from elections. The elected candidates will take office in January of 2025.
