Roggenart Bakery, Bistro, and Café, plans to expand to RTC West, in 2025.
Roggenart is a European-inspired bakery, which opened its first shop in Savage, Maryland, in 2017. They now have seven different locations in Maryland and expanded their business to Arlington and Chicago this past spring.
The bakery plans to open at 12130A Sunset Hill Road, replacing the Starbucks which has recently closed online. A permit application was recently submitted to Fairfax county to allow interior alterations on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Roggenart means “the art of rye” in German. The bakery’s menu focuses on European flavors, varying from croissants and omelets, to soups and salads. Roggenart’s baked goods menu consists of different danishes, cookies, garnished croissants, and savory pastries.
The bakery makes the food in small batches from scratch daily and makes sure the quality of the products are designed to ensure the customer’s unique and enjoyable experience.
Founder Neman Popov and his business partner Brody Tennant had said in a press release, published in July, that as a business they seek to reimagine the “fast-casual bistro and cafe” and transform it into a place where customers are welcome to “set up work or meet up with friends or just for time for themselves.” Popov and Tennant hope to continue expanding and spreading the bakery’s experience.
