Software company Carahsoft was raided by the FBI on the 24th of September in order to investigate price-fixing allegations.
Located in Reston, Carahsoft provides IT support and products to government agencies, such as the Department of Defense.
Under the court authorized raid, employee devices were searched with the FBI interviewing some employees. No arrests were made and the company is “fully cooperating” with the FBI, according to an FBI spokesperson.
“Currently, we are operating business as usual,” A Carahsoft company representative said in an interview with Inside Nova.
The FBI has not released information about reasons for the raid, however the company has had previous court cases and allegations brought against them.
In 2015, Carahsoft agreed to settle with Tech company VMare for $75.5 million after allegations of violating the false claim act and overcharging the government.
Carahsoft has also worked with other companies in the past, which have bad reputations. In 2022 a case was filed against Carahsoft and SAP, another software company, regarding illegally fixed prices on the US military. The companies agreed to set one of their prices to make the other party’s prices more appealing.
In 2024, SAP paid $220 million to dissolve investigations with the DOJ after allegedly bribing companies in Indonesia and South Africa from 2013 to 2018.
“SAP has accepted responsibility for corrupt practices that hurt honest businesses engaging in global commerce,” said Attorney Jessica Aber, during an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
Currently, there have been no major updates with the case and the FBI is still investigating the situation.
