My Prediction for Taylor Swift’s New Album “Midnights”
News broke out on Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Taylor Swift is releasing her new album “Midnight” on October 21, 2022! This will be her 10th studio album.
“I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out October 21,” Swift explained in her acceptance speech for her short film “All Too Well”. “And I will tell you more at midnight.”
Swift posted the cover and amount of tracks on her Instagram, along with a brief explanation of what the album is about.
According to Swift, the album “is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams.” Along with that she explains, “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.”
I have been listening to Taylor Swift ever since her first album came out. I watched her perception of love shift throughout her ongoing songwriting career. I think it is incredible that the same artist can write “Look What You Made Me Do,” a song of revenge and hate, and be able to convey the message of love and forgiveness the way she does in “Daylight” which was written only two years later.
I think this album is going to physically show this perception change. My prediction is that the album is going to have at least one song that was written around the time each of her albums came out. I also predict that we will see a piece written while she was leaving her record company. Along with that, we might see some new music from the present Tayor.
The album might have a mix of different genres such as country and pop, since she first started out as a country music star.
Swift is known for the clues she hides within her album covers, Instagram posts, lyrics… just about anything she is able to get out there. Nothing is a coincidence with Taylor. Fans have noticed that the number of tracks is her lucky number, 13, and the release date adds up to 13. The release date also happens to be Kim Kardashian’s birthday, who Taylor has had disputes with in the past.
Though Swift has always put herself in the center of her albums, these things led me to believe that this album is going to be a whole different level of personal. These songs were also written in the middle of the night, which is a time where people are usually in their most vulnerable state.
I think this album is going to be very different from anything she has ever put out. I love the creative ideas behind it, and I am very excited to see what Swift is going to bring to the table.
