The Weekly Wrap Up: COVID-19 News Briefing – June 25
This is the “Weekly Wrap Up,” the Sentinel’s weekly news briefing on everything happening in DC, Virginia and Fairfax County regarding the Coronavirus.
- Face coverings are still mandated, per the executive order signed by Governor Northam. There has been some resistance to the mask regulations, particularly in areas outside of Northern Virginia.
- The Shelter In Place order for Northern Virginia has expired, as the entire state moves further into Phase Two.
- Governor Northam announced details of Phase Three last week (read more here), and despite national surges, Virginia appears to be moving towards reopening more.
- The number of new cases seen daily has increased.
- There have been 1,620 deaths in Virginia and a total of 58,465 confirmed cases.
