Tips for IB exam preparations
IB exams began May 4 and continue through the month.
In order to prepare for the exams, IB coordinator Marie Turner advises students to study and concentrate in the classes organized as study sessions.
“Best thing is to make sure you attend every review sessions offered by the teachers,” Turner said. “The teachers are the experts on the test content. They are telling you the things that you need to know before the exam. Trust them, and attend those sessions.”
Although studying the contents of the exam is important, it is necessary to receive enough rest the night before as well as eat a well-balanced breakfast.
“Get sleep,” Turner said. “Do not stay up late studying at the expense of getting a good night of sleep. It is far more important to be well rested than to study that one chapter eight more times. And please, eat before the test because if you get hungry during the test, I cannot feed you.”
Students are not allowed to bring anything besides pens or pencils. Smartphones and other electronic devices are prohibited within the testing site.
“People do not believe me about phones,” Turner said. “Phones are a really big deal. It is just that it is a really strict testing environment. You cannot even bring books or anything because it is considered to be cheating by IB.”
In general, students should study, sleep, eat, and stay conscious about the testing environment.
