Honor roll breakfast buffet returns
Third quarter’s Honor Roll Breakfast for qualifying students is tomorrow, April 29, in the cafeteria during Seahawk Seminar period 3.
Last quarter, honor roll students were given goodie bags at the beginning of the day as rewards for their academic success during second quarter.
“Lack of time was the reason we tried to switch to the goodie bags, since we lost so many days to bad weather, “ director of student services Davina Johnson said. “We didn’t want to pull students out of instructional time.“
Johnson explained that they decided to switch back to the quarterly breakfast after receiving mixed reviews from the students about the bags.
“It’s much better as a breakfast and not a bag for lots of reasons,” junior Andrew Creekmore said. “First of all, most of my teachers didn’t even let us eat the food from our bags during class, and secondly there’s a much better selection of food and the breakfast gives us more academic bonding time.”
“I think the idea of the bags is a good one, but the practicality of it all just isn’t that great,” freshman Ian Larson said.
Lists of qualifying students are posted in each subschool and in the main hall. Passes are required at the entrance and will be handed out at the beginning of third period Seahawk Seminar.
“I’m so excited the breakfast is back,” freshman Danielle Barr said. “I like it so much better than the bags because we get to basically have an unlimited amount of food instead of just a bag of chips and a juice box. The breakfast is a lot of fun and gives us a chance to socialize.”
