Sophomores, juniors, and seniors must pay for DABS
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors had the option to buy their own DABS for $3 in their sub-schools while freshmen are given them for free. Each sub-school had a limited supply of DABS and the school is not able to order more.
Some students feel that it is unfair that planners are not provided by the school.
“I think that DABS should be provided to all students,” junior Harleen Singh said. “Although freshmen need them, everyone else does as well, especially the upperclassmen that are taking more rigorous courses and have more assignments to keep track of.”
Some students are struggling to remember their homework and when they have tests or quizzes.
“I really need a DAB,” sophomore Morsal Mohamad said. “I forget my assignments and my test dates easily without them. I use my DAB a lot and I think everyone should get one.”
Some students are complaining about how it is unfair that planners must be bought with their own money. Assistant principal Dana walker explained the reason for the issue with the DABS.
“It’s not like the DABS provided for the freshmen were free,” Walker said. “The DABS were given, specifically to the freshmen as part of their freshman transition program. The students and the upperclassmen were surveyed. The majority were only using their DABS for hall passes, drawings, and doing everything except for what they are supposed to be used for. This became a huge money ordeal.”
The freshman transition program helps upcoming freshmen adapt to high school and not be too overwhelmed.
Although some do not like the idea of the school only providing DABS for the freshmen, some students do not really mind buying their own.
“I don’t like how only freshmen received free DABS,” sophomore Carol Beckett said. “I need a DAB because I like use it so much and I can’t remember my assignments without it, but I guess I can just buy one. It’s only three dollars.”
