Academic Team looks forward to televised compettion
Academic team appears on NBC’s television show It’s Academic during its 52nd seaon last year. This year’s team is scheduled to compete against Paul IV and South County Sept. 21 in a filmed round that will be broadcast on the show November 2.
The Academic Team readies for coming season which includes the taping of a performance to be broadcasted on the popular NBC show, It’s Academic.
Beginning a few years after the school’s founding, the academic team is an organization recognized by VHSL and is currently sponsored by librarian Linda Frantz. If enough students join, the team will participate in the quiz bowl style scholastic competition as well as already planning to appear on the television show It’s Academic.
“People like to play Jeopardy and they like trivia and they like to know facts.” Frantz said. “I think anyone who’s interested should join”
The team is scheduled to record a game against Paul IV and South County Sept. 21 that will be broadcasted Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. on the 53rd season of It’s Academic. To prepare, the academic team is holding once a week practice sessions after school.
“We have people who do more than It’s Academic.” Frantz said. “I think almost anybody [can participate] if they’re interested in a wide verity of subjects.”
The next meeting will be held Friday Sept. 20 in the library.
